Sensei David Holloway - Chief Instructor

David Holloway is the Chief Instructor and Vice President of Grove City Karate LTD, and Senior Partner of Survival Operating Systems (SOS). Sensei Holloway is a former Sergeant in the U.S. Army Special Forces and a Viet Nam veteran. He graduated from the Columbus Ohio Police Academy and the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy. He attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and holds certificates in Executive Protection, Basic and Entry Level Protection Officer, and Home Land Security/Counter Terrorism. Sensei Holloway also attended the WMD/Terrorism Awareness class held through Texas A&M University and Tactical Response Inc. Hazardous Device (WMD) Recognition/Emergency Action Course. He is a graduate of Crucible Security, Kelly McCann’s IPMC/Sudden Violence course, International Training Institute (ITI) Duane Dieter CQD Level#1 DDS. and Weapons Familiarity Course. He is a graduate and holds a Certificate of Proficiency in Mike Janich’s Martial Blade Concepts, earning an Associate Instructor status in 2009. This training includes Counter Blade Concepts, Junkyard Aikido, Damithurt Silat and Sobadiwan Eskrima. In 2004, Sensei attended Legion Protective Services Dignitary/Executive Protection 5 day course and Tactical Response Inc. Tactical Pistol 2 day course. Through Surviving Iraq Inc., he received a certificate in Protection Specialist: Operation Iraq and Civilian Contractor: Operation Iraq. He has completed the Ohio CCW 12 hour course and has attended seminars given by Lt. Col Dave Grossman - Bullet Proof Mind, Det. J.J. Bittenbinder - Tough Target, Caliber Press – Street Survival Seminar, Yelena Pawela – Soviet SWAT Tactics, Personal Defense Group – Fear Management Techniques, Weapons Experts Inc. – Edge Weapons and Franklin County Sheriff’s – Bomb Identification Class, John Giduck's, Terror at Beslan School Safety. He holds current certification in Basic First Aid and Adult/Child/Infant CPR, Greg Ellifrtiz's Active Response Tactical Medicine and Close Quarter Gun Fighting.

A 35 year practitioner of Martial arts, and an instructor for the past 27 years, Sensei Holloway holds Black Belts in Shito-Ryu and Shoto-Kan Karate, Yamani-Ryu Kobudo (weapons) and Kashamashinto Iaido (Japanese Sword). He has a teaching certificate for Yang Style Tai-Chi and Daylan (Wild Goose) Qigong. He also has Kyu rank in Tomiki-Ryu Aikido and Matsubayshi-Ryu Karate. As a student he practices Tenshin Kuro Kempo Jujutsu. As a member of the U.S. (Olympic) Karate team he won a Bronze Medal in Mexico City (1987) and over 60 medals and trophies in Karate competition. Sensei Holloway was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from Sensei Fumio Demura and a Certificate of Excellence from Sensei Kiyoshi Yamazaki. He has trained with many outstanding Martial Arts Instructors including Hideharu Igaki, Kiyoshi Nishime, Kiyoshi Yamazaki, and Fumio Demura. In 1999 the Ohio House of Representatives recognized Sensei Holloway as "Outstanding Coach".

His teachings through Survival Operating Systems, involves a wide range of personal protection seminars. With the assistance from S.O.S. instructors and various guest instructors, he has formed a very unique personal protection system. These seminars include personal protection for men, women, teens, children, and seniors, and can range from open hand, improvised weapons, tactical medicine, and CCW. The seminars are instructed through lecture and application.
Sensei Holloway is an extremely important asset to Grove City and surrounding communities. Aside from teaching karate and personal protection in his school, he has held seminars in public and private schools, for Girl Scout troops, and other various businesses.
