Dojo rules and Etiquette
The
dojo (training hall) where we practice and learn Karate is a place of respect
and discipline. The following our the rules and good habits for training
in our facility. Please note that these rules are not to be used in place
of common sense. If something seems like it would be wrong to do, it probably
is. Exercise respect and good judgement at all times, but especially while
inside the dojo.
- Make sure your
gi (uniform) is clean and properly fitted
- All jewelry and
watches must be removed before practice
- Proper cleanliness
is requested -- please make sure that fingernails and toenails are properly
trimmed so as not to cause injury to others
- Before entering
the training area, remove all gum and candy from your mouth
- To keep the training
floor and mat clean and in good condition, we ask that students and
guests stay off of them while wearing shoes
- In order to keep
the dojo looking clean from the inside out, we ask that you keep your
hands from the windows and mirrors
- All males are required
to wear an athletic supporter during practice and testing
- Parents and guardians
please do not talk to the students during class. This is very distracting
to the students and instructors
- All students should
bow before entering or leaving the training floor and mat
- All students should
bow as they enter or exit the dojo
- Give your full
attention to the instructor at all times when he/she is speaking or
demonstrating techniques
- All black belts
should be addressed as 'sensei'
