Dojo rules and Etiquette

The dojo (training hall) where we practice and learn Karate is a place of respect and discipline. The following our the rules and good habits for training in our facility. Please note that these rules are not to be used in place of common sense. If something seems like it would be wrong to do, it probably is. Exercise respect and good judgement at all times, but especially while inside the dojo.

  • Make sure your gi (uniform) is clean and properly fitted
  • All jewelry and watches must be removed before practice
  • Proper cleanliness is requested -- please make sure that fingernails and toenails are properly trimmed so as not to cause injury to others
  • Before entering the training area, remove all gum and candy from your mouth
  • To keep the training floor and mat clean and in good condition, we ask that students and guests stay off of them while wearing shoes
  • In order to keep the dojo looking clean from the inside out, we ask that you keep your hands from the windows and mirrors
